Miami will play nine of its 12 games in the state of Florida, including away games at South Florida (Sept. 28) and Florida State (Nov. 2).

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The Miami Hurricanes won't have to do much traveling during the first five games of the 2013 season.

UM will play nine of its 12 games in the state of Florida, including away games at South Florida (Sept. 28) and Florida State (Nov. 2). Miami's first out-of-state game comes in mid-October, a Thursday night game against North Carolina on Oct. 17. The Hurricanes open the season at home versus FAU on Friday, Aug. 30, before hosting long-time rival Florida on Sept. 7.

Last year, the Hurricanes played three of their first four games on the road, at Boston College, Kansas State and Georgia Tech. UM finished the 2012 campaign with a 7-5 overall record and tied for first place in the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division with a 5-3 league record.

The Hurricanes open the conference schedule at home against Georgia Tech on Oct. 5, and host Atlantic opponent Wake Forest on Oct. 26. For the second consecutive season, Miami will host Virginia Tech (Nov. 9) and play at Duke (Nov. 16). The Hurricanes close out the season on the road against ACC newcomer Pittsburgh on Friday, Nov. 29.
