Major expansion has taken place since Version 4.0 of The South Georgia Player Rankings ran back on October 1st. Version 5.0 sees 38 new additions as the rankings expand from a Top 70 to a Top 107. One player dropped out due to the fact they transferred to a school on Alabama. These rankings will be updated after the spring evaluation period which ends May, 31.

Currently there are only two players in the South Georgia Rankings that have made verbal commitments. Fort Valley (Ga.) Peach County linebacker Sergio Allen selected Clemson and Blackshear (Ga.) Pierce County offensive lineman chose Auburn.

There are currently 58 prospects currently in the South Georgia Rankings will at least one FCS or FBS scholarship offer. Of those 58 players 32 currently have five or more offers while 13 have surpassed the double digit mark. Valdosta (Ga.) wide out Jaheim Bell tops the list with a whopping 35 offers.

Two-way standout Desmond Tisdol of Rochelle (Ga.) Wilcox County is the highest new entry at #9. This past season he was honored as Co-Defensive MVP for Region 2-A. He currently boasts ten offers which include Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Purdue and South Carolina.

Tall cover corners are a highly coveted commodity and that is why Bainbridge (Ga.) athlete Jaheim Jenkins makes his entry at #30.Jenkins was a key component in the Bearcats State Championship run. As a junior he recorded 21 solo tackles while breaking up ten passes on his way to being named Second Team All-Region. He currently has offers from Colorado and Maryland.

The highest new entry from the Savannah/Coastal Region belongs to Guyton (Ga.) South Effingham offensive tackle Austin Blaske. He earned First Team All-Region as a junior and just this past February placed second in his weight class at the GHSA-AAAAA State Wrestling Championships. Blaske currently holds six offers which include Air Force and Georgia State. He comes in at #38.

Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes two-way standout Gary Osby makes his entry at #43. As a junior he was second on the team with 76 tackles while adding 15.5 TFL’s, three sacks and two INT’s. He also carried the ball 61 times for 322 yards and 11 TD’s. The First Team All-Region performer holds offers from Air Force, Army and Colorado State.

Rounding out the top five new entries is Columbus (Ga.) Carver defensive end KeAndre’ Harper at #45. Back in December Harper stood out in the prestigious Georgia Junior Bowl by racking up seven tackles and two TFL’s. He currently has FBS offers from Air Force, Central Michigan, Navy and Troy. Possibly more amazing is the fact that he holds offers from Dartmouth, Harvard and Princeton.

The last two signing classes in South Georgia (2018, 2019) have produced 51 and 53 FBS signees, respectively. Our goal for the class of 2020 is to surpass those numbers. We would also like to surpass the FCS numbers of 15 and 16 over the past two recruiting cycles. Most FCS schools are now offering full rides.

This goal can only be reached by a commitment to off-season training and the classroom. Every year dozens of high school football stars in South Georgia miss out on full-ride scholarships because their grades are subpar. Remember a large percentage of FCS and FBS schools do not accept the minimum 2.5 core GPA or 820 on the SAT.
