The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets gained a commitment from Zach Quinney, a rising senior offensive lineman out of Savannah Christian, yesterday.

“I went to Georgia Tech three times and I feel like each time I went it got better and better,” Quinney stated. “It’s the right place for me. It’s a top notch football program, and has very prestigious academics; it’s just the place for me, I think.”

Quinney, a three-star prospect according to 247’s composite rankings, also spoke about the coaching staff, “We have a great relationship. I talk to them all the time.”

Savannah Christian, also the alma mater of Demetris Robertson, who was Quinney’s teammate last year, plays a similar style offense that Paul Johnson’s Jackets do.

“It should help a lot (playing in an option offense in high school” said Quinney. “We were looking at the playbook when I was on my visit and we run the exact same plays, so I’m already used to the offense and it should help a lot.”

Listed at 6’5″ 265 pounds, Quinney has the frame to play on either the interior or exterior of the line, and can easily support the weight he will put on once he gets on a collegiate regimen.

Quinney holds nearly 20 scholarship offers, highlighted by major programs within both the ACC and SEC, including North Carolina and Mississippi State, among others.

The Raider offensive lineman won his position group at the Explosive Southern Pigskin Football Camp, back in the spring. His competitive nature, combined with his physical gifts and football instincts, add up to a top notch pull for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
