Overall, southeast Georgia has become a hot recruiting region.

Star Demetris Robertson of Savannah Christian headlines a talented collection of southeast Georgia seniors as the 2015 high school football season approaches. Robertson, ranked by many outlets as the top athlete in this year’s class, is just one of numerous veterans being pursued by some of the biggest names in college football.

Earlier in the recruiting process, Robertson had previously pledged to Alabama. That said, he is now uncommitted and has reportedly expressed interest in the Crimson Tide, Georgia and Stanford. Robertson projects as either a wide receiver or a defensive back and is the type of recruit capable of making an immediate impact at the next level. He will be used a variety of different ways for the Red Raiders this fall.

In addition to Robertson, the low country features seniors like Arkeem Byrd of Jenkins, Tru’self Cooper of Benedictine, Alex Herndon of Calvary Day and Trent Ziegler of South Effingham, just to name a few. Byrd has at least one power five conference offer.

Down I-95, coastal Georgia also has numerous standout seniors. Dedrick Mills, from Ware County, has pledged to Georgia Tech as a b-back. Classmate Steven Wright is a defensive end committed to Virginia. Edge rusher De’Andre Gardenhire-Washington headlines Camden, as do running backs Andrew Lee at Charlton, Dawson Covington at Frederica Academy, Garrison Hurd at Glynn Academy and linebacker Jeremiah Littles at Wayne.

Overall, southeast Georgia has become a hot recruiting region. There are many on-the-verge prospects ready for bigger things. Friday nights will feature countless prospects for college programs of all types.

Looking ahead, there is a lot of top-level talent in the classes to come. This season’s senior class has plenty of potential as well.
