Vying for the top reserve job for the Cowboys, Dak Prescott was one of the most impressive performers of the pre-season’s return.

After one of the most productive careers in SEC history, quarterback Dak Prescott had a fitting pre-season debut. The former Mississippi State signal caller completed 10-of-12 passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns, adding a 14-yard run on Saturday night. Prescott connected with Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams for scores, leading four true offensive drives for the Dallas first-team, with the Cowboys coming away with points on three of them.

Though an exhibition, the setting was a unique one. Prescott’s rookie introduction came before a primetime nationally-televised audience around the globe, and 89,140 fans at the famed L.A. Coliseum, in the Rams’ return to Southern California. With Tony Romo out due to injury, Prescott got the start for one of the NFL’s most famous franchises. On the the other sidelines stood the number one overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Jared Goff.

Vying for the top reserve job for the Cowboys, Prescott was one of the most impressive performers of the pre-season’s return.

“I think the best thing about Dak is that he is extremely calm,” Bryant, who caught two passes for 28 yards and a touchdown, stated of Prescott. “It’s like he’s been here before. He’s not playing like a rookie. He is going to be very good; he’s special.”

Leading the Bulldogs up the national polls, Prescott finished his tenure in Starkville with the 3rd-most total yards and 4th-most total touchdowns ever in the SEC. His professional career is off to a strong start.
