Jake Fromm Continues to Impress

Most notable of all of Jake Fromm's accomplishments is the consistency with which he wins.

After leading Georgia to the College Football Playoff Final as a true freshman, quarterback Jake Fromm has continued his progression into one of the nation's premier signal callers. His encore season, after bursting onto the national stage in year one, has the Bulldogs en route; Georgia has clearly established itself as one of the championship favorites this September, and Fromm is a big reason why.

Fromm was in the spotlight in the Bulldogs' 41-17 road triumph over nationally-ranked South Carolina, perhaps the most impressive single-game performance of any team yet this season. His efficiency, once again, played a key role in an important Georgia victory. Following a late first quarter interception, Fromm promptly completed 14 of his next 16 passes, a 34-yard touchdown to Mecole Hardman included. A statement had been made. Under Fromm's guidance, the Bulldogs compiled 30 first downs in Columbia, their most in a single game in nearly three years.

As a true freshman last season, Fromm finished 8th in the country with a passer rating of 160.09. This fall, that figure is already up to 189.37.

Many of Fromm's numbers compare favorably to the very best in college football. His completion percentage of 79.4% ranks second in the nation and is the highest amongst both quarterbacks who have played multiple games and power five signal callers. Fromm is one of just a dozen quarterbacks, eight from a P5 league, averaging over 10.2 yards per pass attempt. The Georgia attack, with Fromm at the helm, ranks 7th on ESPN's offensive efficiency chart with a total score of 92.7.

Most notable of all of Fromm's accomplishments is the consistency with which he wins. Counting the 2017 season-opener against Appalachian State where he took over for the injured Jacob Eason on the Bulldogs' third offensive possession, Fromm now has a record of 15-2 as Georgia's quarterback. He has beaten the likes of Nick Fitzgerald, Drew Lock, Baker Mayfield and Jarrett Stidham along the way. After Saturday, Fromm is now 2-0 against Jake Bentley. Fromm already has an SEC Championship ring and, fresh off a win at South Carolina, appears poised for a chance at number two.

There is an awareness to Fromm that goes well beyond reading formations or schemes. He has keen feel for the moment, always ready, but rarely doing more than is needed. Fromm is clutch, but also calm. Fromm can be dynamic, but is never deterred. His style has come with style points for the Bulldogs; of Georgia's 15 wins during the Fromm era, 12 of them have been by at least 21 points.

Kirby Smart's Bulldogs have championship expectations and Fromm, though still a true sophomore, continues to help set the tone. His play and his perspective impress with each passing week.
