What FCS teams could get a win and some money against FBS foes this season?

South Dakota State at Minnesota:

August 29th, Minneapolis, MN

The Jackrabbits are coming off back to back FCS Playoff Semi-Finals berths and are ranked #3 in the Stats.com FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll. Minnesota a 7-6 team in 2018 have been picked to finish 6th in the Big 10 Western Division in 2019.

James Madison at West Virginia

August 31st, Morgantown, WV

The Dukes were picked to win the CAA this season and are ranked #2 in the nation preseason. James Madison also has a history of winning games over FBS competition, beating East Carolina in 2017, SMU in 2015 and Virginia Tech in 2010. West Virginia has a new coach in Neal Brown and must rebuild their offense after a number of departures, most notably quarterback Will Grier. The Mountaineers were picked 8th in the preseason Big 12 Media Poll.

Indiana State at Kansas:

August 31st, Lawrence, KS

Indiana State was the most improved team in FCS Football last season with a 7-4 record after going 0-11 in 2017. The Sycamores return offensive stars quarterback Ryan Boyle and Jonas Griffin at linebacker. Indiana State is ranked #16 in the Stats.com FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll. Kansas lost their opener last year to FCS Nicholls and are picked to finish last in the Big 12 in 2019.

Furman at Georgia State:

September 7th, Atlanta, GA

Furman has a strong history of winning games against FBS opponents dating back to the early 1980’s. NC State (twice), South Carolina, North Carolina and most recently Central Florida in 2015 have all fallen to the Paladins. Furman is ranked #19 in the Stats.com FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll and picked second in the SOCON by league media and coaches. Georgia State survived a scare last season only beating Kennesaw State 24-20 and lost to FCS Tennessee State in the 2017 season opener. The Panthers have been picked last by the Sun Belt Conference coaches in the Sun Belt East Division.

East Tennessee State at Vanderbilt:

November 23rd, Nashville, TN

The Bucs catch Vandy at a point in the season when the Commodore faithful in Nashville are usually talking basketball. East Tennessee State made a big splash last year winning a share of the SOCON Title in just their 4th year back playing football after an 11-year hiatus. Vanderbilt has been picked to finish last in the SEC Eastern Division.
