Here are the top players in the SoCon from week two.

Offensive Player of the Week: VMI quarterback Reece Udinski passed for four touchdowns to go along with 264 yards to help lead VMI to their first win of the year over Mars Hill 63-21. Udinski’s touchdown passes came from 26 yards, 7 yards, 36 yards and 32 yards. The win was VMI’s 100 all-time win at Memorial Stadium.

Defensive Player of the Week: Furman’s Jordan Willis recorded a game high 15 tackles in the Paladins 48-42 loss on the road at FBS Georgia State. 

Special Teams Player of the Week: East Tennessee State kicker Tyler Keltner was perfect on all six of his kicks in the Bucs 48-10 win over Shorter. Keltner made all 5 extra points and also hit a 40 yard field goal to get ETSU on the board in the first quarter. 

Coach of the Week: Mercer coach Bobby Lamb has led the Bears to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2015. The Bears are getting off to fast starts in their two wins outscoring their opponents 35-7 in the first quarter and 70-14 in the first half. The Bears will host Austin Peay next Saturday in their home opener. 

X Factor of the Week: Mercer wide receiver Tucker Cannon had a record breaking day against Presbyterian. The sophomore set the Bears single game receiving yardage record with 144 yards, Cannon also caught a career high seven passes. The Bears record for longest pass play from scrimmage was also broken as backup wide receiver Rob Lake caught a Robert Riddle pass for a 98-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
