Looking at the top five plays in the SEC through the first month of the regular season.
No. 5 – Christian Kirk’s 79-yard punt return touchdown against Arizona State
Kirk was expected to make an impact for the Aggies as a true freshman, but few could have expected for it to come in his first game against a ranked opponent. Displaying incredible athleticism, Kirk doubled Texas A&M’s first half lead against Arizona State with his dazzling return.
No. 4 – Leonard Fournette turns sack into 48-yard gain
On second-and-long from its own 37, LSU appeared poised to take a sack as quarterback Brandon Harris was corralled by a Syracuse defender. Showing incredible awareness, Fournette, who was supposed to be blocking on the play, ran behind Harris, took a lateral and ran 48 yards to pick up an improbable first down.
No. 3 – Will Greir’s 63-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Callway against Tennessee
Facing a critical fourth-and-14 down by six points late in the contest, Grier stepped up in the pocket and fired a dart across the middle to Callaway, who would do the rest. A quick spin to the outside and a burst of speed down the sideline gave the Gators a dramatic win over the Volunteers to extend their run of dominance in the series.
No. 2 – Leonard Fournette destroys the Auburn defense
Let’s be honest, Fournette’s performance against Auburn was so dominant that it would be difficult to pick just one play as his best. One thing is for sure, though: Auburn’s defenders wanted absolutely no part of trying to tackle Fournette as the contest progressed.
No. 1 – Ole Miss scores miraculous touchdown against Alabama
It may not have been the way they drew it up, but the Rebels pulled off one of the most dramatic touchdowns in college football history in their upset win at Alabama. Words can’t even describe how incredible this play was!
