Multiple sources have confirmed with Southern Pigskin that Georgia Southern has hired Willie Fritz as its new head football coach.

Multiple sources have confirmed with Southern Pigskin that Georgia Southern has hired Willie Fritz as its new head football coach.

Fritz has spent the past four seasons as the head coach at FCS Sam Houston State, where he compiled a record of 40-15. Fritzxe2x80x99s stint with the Bearkats included back-to-back appearances in the FCS National Championship Game in 2011 and 2012.

Prior to his time at Sam Houston State, Fritz spent 13 seasons as the head coach at Central Missouri.

Georgia Southern was looking for a head coach with a background running the option offense, which is exactly what they will get in Fritz.

According to sources, a press conference introducing Fritz as head coach could come as early as Friday.
