Five star recruit Ray Drew made it official this morning in Thomasville, Georgia that he intends to sign with Georgia next Wednesday on National Signing Day.In front of an overflow crowd, including former Dawg David Pollack, the edge rushing specialist picked Georgia over Auburn, Miami and others. Drew will wear Pollack’s number #47 at Georgia.
At 6’5 255, Drew is rated as the No. 13 prospect overall nationally by ESPN Recruiting and is the 18th in-state prospect for the Bulldogs in this class. He’s also an ordained minister and preaches on occasion at various churches.
Georgia has hopes to finish strong by landing outstanding prospects like the nation’s top running back Isaiah Crowell from Columbus, Ga., juco defensive tackle John Jenkins along with defensive end Jeoffrey Pagan from Ashville, North Carolina.
If Georgia can close with Crowell, Jenkins and Pagan, they’re looking at what could be a top 5 class nationally.
Under fire all season, coach Mark Richt and recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner have answered their critics in this recruiting season assembling one of the nation’s best classes without Crowell, Jenkins and Pagan who are considered to be leaning towards Athens.
