Multiple scouting services have listed Antonio Wimbush as one of the most underrated prospects in the entire 2015 class.

The past couple of weeks have been very kind to 2015 running back prospect Antonio Wimbush out of Camden County High School in Kingsland, Georgia.

After leading the Wildcats’ vaunted triple option attack in rushing touchdowns as a junior, Wimbush has been tearing up the camp circuit during the offseason. Just one week after winning the Overall Top Performer Award at the NUC Five-star Camp in Orlando, Wimbush once again dominated the competition in Savannah, earning honors as the top running back in attendance at the Explosive Southern Pigskin Camp.

“It feels pretty good,” Wimbush said of winning back-to-back honors at regional camps. “I just thank God every day.”

Standing a diminutive five-foot-nine, Wimbush has made a living off his quick feet and exceptional burst at the high school level. Though some schools initially showed concern about his lack of prototypical size, Wimbush has proven time and time again that his compact frame allows him to be incredibly efficient with the football in his hands.

Wimbush currently holds an offer from Marshall, but believes that more offers are on the way due to his recent accolades at various camps. He has recently received increased interest from Florida and Vanderbilt, amongst other schools, and he is still in the early stages of figuring out a list of favorites.

One of the main reasons that Wimbush has been able to succeed on the gridiron is his relentless drive and eagerness to improve. Partially spurned on by critics who slight him because of his size, Wimbush has worked tirelessly to increase his overall skills and athleticism.

His talents were certainly on full display in Savannah, as he was singled out by almost every coach in attendance due to his shiftiness and explosiveness coming out of breaks. His 4.53 in the 40-yard dash was the second-fastest time of the multitude of prospects in attendance.

That certainly does not mean that he is content with resting on his laurels, however.

“I think I did pretty good out here, but like my mom tells me, my road to success is still under construction,” Wimbush commented on Saturday afternoon. “I think my height has hurt my recruitment a little bit, but I am just trying to play ball, and I know I can do that.”

While some college coaches around the country remain behind the proverbial eight-ball due to his height, scouts in the southeast remain perplexed with the fact that elite college programs have yet to offer. Multiple scouting services have listed Wimbush as one of the most underrated prospects in the entire 2015 class. Most of those scouting services also predict that the “under the radar” label will soon dissipate as colleges have an opportunity to see his skills in person.   

His next opportunity to impress college coaches will be a big one, as Wimbush has earned an invitation to the Nike Football Training Camp (NFTC) in Orlando this Saturday, where he will try to make it three consecutive camps which end with him receiving an award for outstanding performance.

Given his immeasurable talent and desire, there is no reason to think that additional hardware will not be on its way back to Camden County very soon.
