Christian Goeckel ranks the top quarterbacks in the SoCon.

n1. Reece Udinski – VMI
nUdinski is the perfect case study for what has been a wild past 12 months across college football. After throwing for 3,000 yards in back-to-back seasons, he will play his final season for the Keydets this spring, then suit up for Maryland as a grad transfer this fall, potentially playing in 20+ games in a calendar year.xc2xa0 The 2nd-team all-conference QB completed 64% of his throws in 2019, including a 19-5 TD-INT ratio. With only 8 games, Itxe2x80x99ll be hard for Udinski to break his own VMI single season passing record of 3,276 yards, but he should undoubtedly be the favorite to lead the conference through the air.

n2. Chris Oladokun – Samford
nAfter setting the Samford single game touchdown passes record (6) against Tennessee Tech in week 2, Oladokun was up-and-down for the remainder of 2019. He was the Offensive Player of the Week three times, including being the Offensive Player of the Month in September. With so much time to prepare for this season, we should see another step forward from the talented QB under Chris Hatcherxe2x80x99s tutelage.

n3. Hamp Sisson – Furman
nMostly a backup in 2019, Sisson has locked up the starting spot for one of the preseason favorites in the SoCon. In the fall of 2019, seeing limited action, he completed 51 of 84 passes for 638 yards, with 3 touchdowns to go along with 3 interceptions. Against Chattanooga, he came off the bench to rally the Paladins from 9 points down, eventually winning the game 35-20. The next week, in his first career start, Sisson threw for 277 yards and 2 touchdowns in a win over VMI. With expectations high for Furman, the spotlight will shine on Sisson this spring.

n4. Robert Riddle – Mercer
nThis one comes with a question mark. How healthy is Riddle? When healthy, Riddle is an excellent player. As a redshirt sophomore, Riddle had 15 touchdowns through 7 games in 2019, before suffering a season-ending injury. He was named to the SoConxe2x80x99s All-Freshman team after only playing just 4 games in 2018, again suffering a season-ending injury. If Riddle can stay healthy hexe2x80x99ll push for all-conference honors in 2021.
