Florida State is set to face Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship Game
We now know that Florida State will face Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship Game on Dec. 6 after North Carolina knocked off Duke 45-20 Thursday night.
The Seminoles remained undefeated after getting heavily tested by Boston College Saturday afternoon, keeping their playoff hopes alive. Let’s look at a few of the big games in the ACC this weekend.
Florida State 20, Boston College 17
Repeatedly criticized for their struggles on the field this season, the Seminoles have ignored that public sentiment. FSU picked up its 27th-straight win after kicker Roberto Aguayo made the winning kick to lift defending national champions with three seconds left. Florida State took Boston Colleges best shot and but it wasnt enough. The Eagles had a chance to break a 17-17 tie on a methodical 17-play, 67-yard drive that took nearly nine minutes off the clock, but came away empty-handed after missing a 42-yard field goal right. The Seminoles took the ensuing drive which led to the winning field goal. FSU hosts Florida next Saturday before taking on Georgia Tech in Charlotte.
Louisville 31, Notre Dame 28
The Cardinals led for much of the game and overcame a third-quarter deficit to pick up their first victory over Notre Dame in the first meeting of the two programs. Louisville kept its hopes alive of winning at least 10 games for the third straight season. Cards running back Brandon Radcliff rushed for 136 yards of Louisvilles 229 rushing yards as the Fighting Irish lost their third straight game and fourth in the last five games after starting the year off at 6-0. The Cardinals end the regular season by hosting Kentucky for the Governors Cup.
Virginia 30, Miami 13
A week after giving it their all against FSU, the Hurricanes looked lost Saturday night in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers sturdy defense was a problem for Miami all game long as Brad Kaaya was sacked four times and hurried countless other times. Virginia held a slim lead at the break but exploded in the second half with 17 straight points to lead UM 30-7. Duke Johnson was held to 88 rushing yards bringing to an end a string of six straight games in which he rushed for at least 100 yards. With the win, the Cavaliers ended a four game losing skid dating back to Oct. 18. They need a win next week at Virginia Tech to become bowl eligible.
