A look at the most underrated teams in the ACC Atlantic and ACC Coastal.
ACC Atlantic
NC State
Though Clemson gets all of the attention in the ACC Atlantic, the Wolfpack look like a nationally-ranked team. They belong in the pre-season polls. There is experience and production everywhere. Running back Zonovan Knight, receiver Emeka Emezie, tackle Ikem Ekwonu, linebackers Isaiah Moore and Payton Wilson, defensive back Jakeen Harris and return specialist Thayer Thomas are each all-conference candidates. Now healthy, rising quarterback Devin Leary is ready for more. NC State won four consecutive games to finish last regular season, beating otherwise-unbeaten Liberty along the way. This team is ready for some national attention.
ACC Coastal
Virginia Tech
Most are focusing exclusively on North Carolina and Miami in the ACC Coastal, but the Hokies will play their way into the mix. There are playmakers around former Oregon quarterback Braxton Burmeister, most notably receivers Tre Turner and Tayveon Robinson. Amaro Barno is a star defensively and Virginia Tech will benefit from Clemson-transfer Jordan Williams at tackle and Vanderbilt-transfer Tae Daley at safety. In a game to watch, the Hokies will host the Tar Heels on a Friday night in Lane Stadium to open the season. Notre Dame will come to town less than a month later.
