Four quarterbacks will play key roles as the Seminoles take on the Tigers.

This Saturday night’s game between Clemson and Florida State will feature two nationally-ranked teams, two league frontrunners and four, two on both sides, different quarterbacks. The Tigers have seemingly committed to a two-quarterback system with senior Cole Stoudt as the number one and freshman Deshaun Watson getting situational opportunities. A first-half suspension to defending Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston means sophomore Sean Maguire will soon make his first college start for the Seminoles. We likely won’t see as many signal callers in a nationally-revelent game all season.

Below is a look at each participant.

Sean Maguire, Florida State — Entering Saturday, Maguire has 26 career pass attempts, two touchdowns and two interceptions. His most extensive action came last November against Idaho: 9-of-14, 84 yards, one touchdown, one interception. Maguire did take first-team reps this past spring when Winston was with the baseball team. With over 200 yards passing in the spring game, he finished camp on a high note. A New Jersey-native, Maguire was ranked as a four-star prospect by ESPN and a three-star by Rivals, Scout and 247 Sports. He chose the Seminoles over Alabama, Maryland and North Carolina State.

Cole Stoudt, Clemson — Stoudt transitioned into the starting role as a senior, but entered this fall with considerable game experience. As a backup to Tajh Boyd, he attempted 119 passes for 742 yards, eight touchdowns and just one interception. He was especially-efficient as a junior, leading the nation with a 79.7% completion percentage amongst quarterbacks with at least 50 attempts. During a standout prep career, Stoudt broke many of Brady Quinn’s school records. The veteran recently had his first 300-yard passing game in a 73-7 win over South Carolina State.

Deshaun Watson, Clemson — A true freshman, Watson came to Clemson as one of the program’s most highly-touted recruits ever. He was ranked by many outlets as the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the country after setting the Georgia high school record for total offense and total touchdowns; Watson set the state’s career passing and passing touchdown mark by his junior year. Through his first two games, Watson is 10-of-13 for 213 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. The Gainesville-native threw his first college touchdown pass in Sanford Stadium.

Jameis Winston, Florida State — An all-everything redshirt freshman season saw Winston become the youngest player ever to win the Heisman Trophy, lead the Seminoles to a 14-0 national championship and help Florida State set a NCAA Division I record with 723 points scored. Off-the-field incidents have been a recurring theme, however, and Winston has been suspended for the first half this Saturday night. He has passed for 626 yards while completing over 70% of his attempts in 2014. Against the Tigers a year ago, Winston threw for a career-high 444 yards and three scores.

Kickoff is set for 8pm at Doak Campbell Stadium.
