Clemson coach Dabo Swinney received a $1.1 million raise for next season in his reworked contract with the school.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) x94 Clemson coach Dabo Swinney received a $1.1 million raise for next season in his reworked contract with the school.
Swinney will make $4.55 million in 2016, an increase from the $3.45 million he was scheduled to make under his agreement from January 2014. The school’s board of trustees approved the deal Tuesday.
Swinney led the Tigers to an Atlantic Coast Conference title, a No. 1 ranking and a spot in the national championship game this past season where they fell to Alabama 45-40.
Swinney’s compensation will grow to $5.65 million in 2021, the contract’s final year.
Should Swinney leave for another school this year, he would owe Clemson $6 million x94 an amount that decreases by $1 million each subsequent season.
Swinney has gone 56-12 over the past five seasons.
