The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: ACC Week 4
The Good: DJ Uiagalelei and Sam Hartman
Uiagalelei and Hartman put on an absolute show in their top-25 matchup. The pair combined for 11 touchdowns through the air in Clemsons 51-45 win. Hartman set the Wake Forest record with his 6, and looked like one of the best quarterbacks in the country.
Weve known how good Hartman is, but it was DJ Uiagalelei that really surprised. The junior doubled his touchdown mark for the season, throwing for 5 touchdowns in the OT-thriller. Uiagaleleis previous career-high was 2. After only throwing for 9 touchdowns in all of 2021, many Tigers fans were calling for a new quarterback. DJ Uiagalelei put that to bed on Saturday.
The Bad: North Carolinas defense
Notre Dame entered Saturdays game averaging 300.3 yards per game, and hadnt scored more than 26 points. The Irish went for 576 yards, 287 on the ground, and hung 45 on the Tar Heels. Now, you could look at this as an improvement: North Carolina gave up 40 points to App State in the 4th quarter alone, but this is getting embarrassing for Gene Chiziks defense.
The Tar Heels have only held an opponent to under 30 once (Georgia State – 28) and havent gotten to the excellent offenses that are still on their schedule.
The Ugly: Miami
The Hurricanes werent upset by Middle Tennessee State; they were handled. In this one, Miami was: down 24-3 three minutes into the second quarter, held to 60 yards on the ground, beaten 3-1 in the turnover battle, and outgained 507-367. We throw the word x9cbackx9d around A LOT. Miami is not x9cbackx9d and thats okay.
Mario Cristobal knew this was going to be a project when he came home to take the job. Now x98Canes fans have to hope this is their version of Louisiana-Monroe over Alabama in 2007.
