Clemson has rewarded its nine football assistants with raises totaling $1.085 million after the Tigers run to the national championship.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) x94 Clemson has rewarded its nine football assistants with raises totaling $1.085 million after the Tigers run to the national championship.

The staff raises were approved by the Clemson University Board of Trustees on Friday.

Defensive coordinator Brent Venables will again be the highest paid member of the staff with a salary of $1.425 million, an increase of $75,000 over last year. The biggest increases went to co-offensive coordinators Tony Elliott and Jeff Scott, who each got raises of $225,000 and will both make $625,000 this season.

In all, Clemson’s staff will be paid $5.3 million, up from $4.215 million the group made last season.

The Tigers won the Atlantic Coast Conference title and started 14-0 before falling to Alabama in the national title game.
