Dak Prescott was extremely impressive in his first preseason game with the Dallas Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys kicked off their preseason Saturday night at the Los Angeles Rams new home. The Rams return to the Coliseum did not start too well, as Los Angeles kick to start the game was returned by Dallas for a quick six. Cowboys WR Lucky Whitehead caught the kick by Greg Zuerlein in the end zone and he looked like he had been shot out of a cannon, running 101 yards in 13 seconds for the TD.
Rookie QB Dak Prescott had an almost perfect game and outshined the number one overall draft pick, QB Jared Goff of the Rams. Prescott completed 10 of 12 passes for 139 yards with two great touchdowns to Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams. He ended the night with a passer rating of 154.5 and led the Cowboys to three scoring drives to close out the half up 24-7. I believe what I saw out of Prescott shows real promise in being a great quarterback, and I dont think the Cowboys need to worry about having a quality backup QB.
Goff came off the bench in the second quarter for his first NFL action. Unfortunately, he got leveled as he threw and was intercepted on only his second pass attempt. He looked better towards the end of the half, as he had a good series going and had a long pass down the middle of the field that rookie receiver Pharoh Cooper dropped. Goff didnt return to the game in the second half because the Rams said he was feeling sore after taking a hit on his non-throwing shoulder. He ended the game four of nine for 38 yards and one turnover.
I really cant judge Goffs performance because he didnt play very long in the game. Based on what I saw, though, the first drive was terrible and the second drive he had a rhythm going until the ball was knocked out of the hands of the receiver. This is just my observation of Goff so far. He received all this hype about how good he is and how he is going to be the face of the Rams. I have not seen anything spectacular out of him yet. He may become a great QB over time, but right now, I just dont see it.
In the second half of the game, the Rams rallied back with their starting quarterback Case Keenum and won 28 to 24. I was disappointed my Cowboys lost, but these preseason games dont count towards anything. It is really just practicing the rookies to see who shows that spark of a great player.
Thats how I $ee itxa6.
