College football legend Rudy Ruettiger likes Georgia Tech as this week’s “Underdog Pick of the Week”.
Every weekend in college football is a surprise! And when one teams wins a big game the week before, the other team steps up, while that team tends to fall asleep.
Football is truly a game of emotion and timing. Just look at what happened at Georgia with Todd Gurley this past weekend. Why didn’t the coach run him more?!?! Ugh! Is it because of talent that South Carolina was able to pull the upset, or was it simply due to the temperment of the young players? The Gamecocks got whipped by Texas A&M and then bounced back with impressive wins over talented East Carolina and Georgia teams.
Virginia Tech beats Ohio State on the road, and then gets knocked off by East Carolina the following weekend. That explains why you should throw the records out the window when certain teams play. Southern California beats Stanford and loses to Boston College the next week? That tells you what emotions can do in college football!
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney certainly won’t his team to be considered an underdog when the Tigers take on Florida State this weekend. Maybe the Tigers are a team that play better with an edge.
As for my “Underdog Pick fo the Week”, keep your eyes on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets! Virginia Tech’s head is likely still spinning after the disappointing loss to East Carolina, while Georgia Tech is fired up to show that its performance in the second half against Georgia Southern was a fluke. That triple option attack is something special, and it is going to give the Hokies all they can handle in Blacksburg. Jackets get it done on the road!
