After a rocky tenure, Bryan Harsin is out at Auburn.

Auburn University officailly fired head football coach Bryan Harsin on Monday,

The news comes after Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger reported the university had hired Mississippi State athletic director John Cohen to fill the same role at Auburn.

For Harsin, this ends a tumultous stint on the Plains. During his time as head coach, the Tigers were (9-12) overall, with an SEC record of (4-9).

Auburn released the following in statement to CBS Sports:

“President Christopher Roberts made the decision after a thorough review and evaluation of all aspects of the football program. Auburn will begin an immediate search for a coach that will return the Auburn program to a place where it is consistently competing at the highest levels and representing the winning tradition that is Auburn football.”

Per Pete Thamel of ESPN, the school will owe Bryan Harsin quite a bit of money.

“They’re expected to owe him more than $15 million in buyout money, half of which is due in 30 days.” Thamel reported in a tweet.

Auburn is currently (3-5). The Tigers have games remaing at Mississippi State, home against Texas A&M & Western Kentucky, and at #6 Alabama. They’ll need to win three of them to avoid their first back-to-back losing seasons since 1998-1999.
