As Jadevan Clowney, the nation’s top prospect finally makes his choice, the state of South Carolina sits and nervously awaits.

I’ve never been a fan of pep talks.

As one coach told me, not all great coaches need great speeches to motivate teams.

They just need great players that have a hunger and desire inside of them.

But in this case, a pep talk is needed.

The state of South Carolina has without question, some of the best college football fans in the Southeast.

That’s just stating obvious facts.

But for all the fervor and undying love for the state’s major programs, tomorrow may be one of the most eventful days in the Palmetto State’s sports history.

Jadevan Clowney, the top-ranked player in not only the state of South Carolina, but also the country, will have every football fan from Mount Pleasant to Rock Hill and on down to Spartanburg glued to their TV sets.

You see, Clowney is going to be doing something that could impact the futures of both Clemson and South Carolina for years to come.

He’s going to make his long-awaited decision, something that college football fans have been patiently waiting for since National Signing Day.

With this decision, chances are one or even worse, both fanbases will be disappointed.

After what happened with C.J. Johnson during his recruitment with both Mississippi State and Ole Miss, when fans were leaving hateful messages and posts on his Facebook profile, here’s my advice to the state and their rabid fans.

Think.

That’s it.

If Clowney decides to go to South Carolina, Clemson fans don’t get pissed to the point where you send threatening messages to Clowney’s inbox.

It’s not worth it.

The same advice goes for Gamecock fans.

Don’t make a kid’s big day a living nightmare.

There’s bigger fish to fry.
