The ACC partially unveiled the curtain on its new 14-team football schedule for the 2013 season on Friday, announcing home and away pairings for each team. Dates will be announced later. The ninth annual ACC Championship Game will be held in Charlotte on Dec. 7.
Pittsburgh and Syracuse join the league officially on July 1, as the league expands from 12 to 14 teams. Pittsburgh will play in the Coastal Division, while Syracuse joins the Atlantic Division. No permanent multi-year rotation for inter-division games has yet been established, but this model may be used in future years. Louisville joins the league in 2014 with Maryland leaving for the Big Ten, while five ACC teams will play a game with Notre Dame each year, also likely to begin in 2014.

Some brief observations on the pairings:
*Division games remained on rotation as far as home and away designations despite the two new additions. Those teams scheduled for just two home division games under the previous rotation will host either Pittsburgh or Syracuse. Those scheduled for three division home games will travel to either Heinz Field or the Carrier Dome. All teams will play three division home games and three division road games.
*Four inter-division games will repeat sites from 2012: Virginia Tech at Boston College, Duke at Wake Forest, Pittsburgh at Syracuse and Georgia Tech at Clemson. Three Coastal Division games will also repeat: Miami (FL) at Duke, Duke at Virginia Tech and Virginia Tech at Miami (FL).
*Pittsburgh’s home schedule may be the most attractive in the league. In addition to Notre Dame, the Panthers draw Florida State from the Atlantic Division along with division home games against Miami (FL), North Carolina and Virginia.
*A home schedule of Idaho, Maryland, Miami (FL), Nevada, N.C. State, Syracuse and Wofford will do little to improve declining ticket sales at Florida State’s Doak Campbell Stadium.
*Previously scheduled games for 2013 lost due to expansion include Georgia Tech at Boston College, Virginia Tech at Florida State, Duke at Clemson, Florida State at Georgia Tech, North Carolina at Maryland and Miami (FL) at N.C. State.
