Now the speculation can end as the nation’s No. 1 recruit coming out of high school this past season, Jadeveon Clowney, has reportedly met the NCAA’s academic guidelines for admission to the University of South Carolina. He is on track to enroll and be on campus next month to begin classes and join his fellow Gamecock football players for team workouts.
There are two remaining hurdles to be cleared for Clowney as now that he has the met the qualifying NCAA academic guidelines, he must be cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse and officially admitted into USC. Both of these issues are expected to be overcome in all due time so don’t think that he will not be in the garnet and black any longer.
Clowney is expected to be opposite Devin Taylor on the defensive line as the starter at defensive end for the Gamecocks in 2011. Opposing offensive coaches and quarterbacks are now on notice as Clowney will be the disrupter, with his 4.6 40 speed, that the Gamecocks need to fuel a SEC title run in 2011.
