Friday’s announcement of Thomasville’s Ray Drew committing to Georgia is the first step in setting the tone for what could be a solid 2011 for the Bulldogs.

In December, I said prior to Georgia’s date with Central Florida in the Liberty Bowl that a bowl win for the Bulldogs in what had been a disappointing season for the program would be a great boost for 2011.

A loss however, would put “For Sale” signs up in front of Richt’s house on New Year’s Day.

While the Bulldogs did in fact lose to the Golden Knights to finish with their first losing season in 14 years, Richt and his staff did what any other staff would do during this time of year.

Bank on recruiting and keep the Peach State’s best in state.

Friday’s announcement of Thomasville’s Ray Drew committing to Georgia is the first step in setting the tone for what could be a solid 2011 for the Bulldogs.

Drew, which had over 50 offers from various schools, most notably Auburn and Clemson, was a standout at Thomas County High School in Thomasville and ranked by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as the number #2 player in Georgia.

As Drew put it last Friday, the “Dream Team” that Richt is coming up with for 2011 can be the ticket for returning Georgia back to the success that was greatly enjoyed by the Georgia fans between 2001-08.

Should Drew and company live up to the hype, no evil will be spoke of when it concerns Richt’s job security.

If it turns out to be the opposite, then the thermometer on the oven for Richt will be cranked up even more.
