Richard LeCounte is ranked by some recruiting services as the No. 1 safety in the country for the 2017 class, although he is versatile enough to play a multitude of positions at the next level.
Consensus five-star class of 2017 athlete Richard LeCounte, who is widely regarded as a top ten prospect nationally in the junior class, became the first player to commit to new Georgia head coach Kirby Smart when he took to Twitter to announce his commitment on Sunday.
Said LeCounte on his Twitter page, @LilEasy_35: “Im Proud To Announce That For My 3-4 Years Of College I Will be A Student-Athlete At The University Of Georgia!!! #GoDawgs #GodFirst”.
Georgia and Ohio State have long been thought to be the two favorites in LeCounte’s recruitment. He had offers from just about every major program in the country.
LeCounte is ranked by some recruiting services as the No. 1 safety in the country for the 2017 class, although he is versatile enough to play a multitude of positions at the next level.
In three varsity seasons at Liberty County High School in Hinesville, Georgia, LeCounte has registered nearly 300 tackles, 11 forced fumbles and 11 interceptions on defense, while adding in over 1,500 yards and 26 touchdowns on offense.
