As we get closer and closer to Signing Day 2012, let’s take a look at the top ten remaining uncommitted prospects from our previously released RealTree Energy Southern Top 100.

With only two weeks left until Signing Day, college coaches are frantically working to ensure a positive finish to the class of 2012.

While the majority of prospects have already made the college intentions public, there are still a handful of top prospects who have yet to make their final college decision.

As we get closer and closer to Signing Day 2012, let’s take a look at the top ten remaining uncommitted prospects from our previously released RealTree Energy Southern Top 100.

#1: WR Stefon Diggs

Scouting Report – Diggs has a skill-set that would make the majority of elite running back prospects jealous. His feet are incredibly quick, making him a dangerous threat when he catches the ball in the open field. He is also more than capable of lining up the backfield or taking handoffs on speed sweeps. Diggs still needs to work on some of the finer points of being a receiver, but, simply put, he has natural athletic abilities than can’t be taught.

Recruiting Status – There are still a handful of schools involved in his recruitment, although it appears that Auburn may be the team to beat.

#2: S Nelson Algohor

Scouting Report – Algohor is an outstanding two-way player at the high school level, although he best projects as a safety going forward. He is an extremely gifted athlete who has tremendous instincts in the secondary. He has great ball skills and he almost always seems to find himself in the right position. The biggest issue for Algohor is that he is not strong enough to be a contributor in the secondary at the collegiate level as of yet. He will likely go on to take a redshirt, but he will be a very productive player down the road.

Recruiting Status – Current final five of Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and USC.

#3: CB Tracy Howard

Scouting Report – Howard has all of the desired skills that college coaches will be looking for in a shutdown corner. He has quick feet, outstanding change-of-direction and good ball skills. At the US Army All-American Game, many scouts stated that they thought Howard was the best defensive back in attendance. Howard has great size for a cornerback (6-0), but he needs to add more upper-body strength in order to jam receivers at the line-of-scrimmage. He also could improve his tackling skills in run support.

Recruiting Status – Final three of Florida, LSU and USC.

#4: OLB Kwon Alexander

Scouting Report – Alexander tore his ACL during his senior season, but he is an explosive football player when healthy. Once he diagnoses the play, Alexander immediately shifts into high gear and runs with reckless abandon in his pursuit of the football. Alexander also arrives to the football in a bad mood, delivering ferocious hits to anyone who just so happens to be in his way. We will have to see how quickly he recovers from his knee injury, but all signs point toward Alexander becoming a tackling machine at the collegiate level.

Recruiting Status – Has taken official visits to Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and LSU.

#5: OT Avery Young

Scouting Report – While Young is unlikely to be a prospect who makes an immediate impact in college, he is a guy who could develop into an All-American lineman later in his career. Young has outstanding foot quickness and athleticism for an offensive tackle, but he must get better at the line-of-scrimmage. Right now, his main problems are a lack of technique and strength. His technique steadily improved throughout his senior season, and his strength is sure to get better once he enrolls in a college weight program for a couple of years.

Recruiting Status – Final five of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Miami (FL).

#6: OLB Josh Harvey-Clemons

Scouting Report – Harvey-Clemons is an athletic, physical player, who is versatile enough to play a multitude of positions in college. At the conclusion of his junior season, there were concerns that he might take some time to develop in pass coverage, but he spent the majority of his time playing in the secondary as a senior, which really allowed him to fine-tune his coverage skills. With his outstanding size (6-4, 210), Harvey-Clemons is a big-hitter, who will become an enforcer once he adds some additional weight to his frame.

Recruiting Status – Official visits scheduled for Georgia, Florida, Florida State and Louisville.

#7: WR Joel Caleb

Scouting Report – Caleb is a physical receiver is more likely to run a defender over than he is to try to juke them. Playing quarterback for his high school team, there are concerns that it will take some time for Caleb to get acquainted with his new position. However, Caleb is a good enough athlete that it should not take him too much time to learn the intricacies of playing wide receiver. While Caleb will never be a serious threat in the open field, he projects well as a deep ball threat out wide. He will also present a very nice target on third downs and in the red zone.

Recruiting Status – Final five of Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. At this point, it appears that Ohio State and Virginia Tech are his two leaders.

#8: DE Leonard Williams

Scouting Report – Williams reminds me a little of Florida State’s Bjoern Werner. At 6-5, 265-pounds, Williams frequently overpowers offensive linemen with his superior size. However, that does not mean that Williams does not move well for a defensive end. He has very good athleticism and is capable of tracking down plays from behind. Williams could easily grow into a defensive tackle at the next level, or he could play defensive end in the 3-4 scheme. His college position will likely be determined by the school that he picks.

Recruitment Status – Final five of Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami (FL) and USC.

#9: ATH Jeremy Liggins

Scouting Report – When you think of Jeremy Liggins, think of a young Can Newton who is just not as polished as a passer. Liggins is a mammoth quarterback prospect (6-4, 265) who carries his weight extremely well. He has enough straight-line speed to pull away from defenders, but also is not afraid to put his head down and pick up the tough yardage. At this point, he has a very awkward throwing motion, although it does get the job done. It still has yet to be seen what position he will play in college, but I think he would fit in nicely as a tight end.

Recruitment Status – Alabama, LSU, Mississippi State and Ole Miss are still in the hunt.

#10: DT Korren Kirven

Scouting Report – Kirven shows excellent quickness off the ball, although he frequently stands too upright when coming out of his stance. He uses a variety of moves to maneuver his way around offensive linemen and also uses his hands very well to disengage from blockers. Kirven does not have great speed when chasing down plays from behind, but his quickness off the ball will help him make up for whatever he lacks in speed.

Recruitment Status – Final five of Alabama, Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
