2015 OL prospect Tyler McGarr out of Harris County has officially committed to the Cincinnati Bearcats.
One of the top performers at the Explosive Southern Pigskin Camp in Waycross, McGarr had really seen his recruitment go to new heights in recent months. In addition to his offer from the Bearcats, he also held scholarship offers from Air Force and Chattanooga, and he was receiving major interest from Georgia Southern and Georgia State.
McGarr recently took an unofficial visit up to Ohio to check out Cincinnati firsthand, and it would ultimately be the trip that led to his commitment.
“Me and a couple of other players went up there with our head coach to participate in their camp, and I did pretty good,” McGarr told Southern Pigskin. “They offered me the next day, and I just really liked the coaches when I was up there.”
With his commitment, McGarr becomes the 21st verbal commitment for the Bearcats in the class of 2015.
And while there is still a long way to go before National Signing Day, McGarr does not see his decision changing.
“It would have to be something really, really, really good for me to even consider it,” McGarr commented when asked if he is open to other schools. “I don’t even know what it would be. Even if someone like Alabama offered, I probably still wouldn’t de-commit because I don’t know anything about them.”
In McGarr, Cincinnati is getting a well-built offensive lineman with a ton of passion and desire. McGarr is exceptionally intelligent (4.1 GPA) and has consistently improved his technique over the past couple of seasons.
