Georgia is winning and winning with a purpose.
Each week, undefeated, top-ranked Georgia continues to look and play the part.
In another convincing, multi-score victory, the Bulldogs pulled away from Tennessee on Saturday 41-17, marking the 9th consecutive contest they have won by at least 17 points. It proved to be an easy climb on Rocky Top. Just one more lopsided result for the nation’s number one team. Georgia is winning and winning with a purpose. The Bulldogs are making their point and making history along the way; Georgia has now finished 8-0 in the SEC for the first time ever.
Facing an opponent which had just scored 45 points in a road win over nationally-ranked Kentucky, the Bulldogs outrushed Tennessee 274 yards to 55. After the Volunteers kicked a field goal late in the first quarter to take a 10-7 lead, Georgia promptly scored the game’s next 34 points. Running back James Cook starred with 104 rushing yards and two touchdowns and 43 receiving yards and another score through the air. Quarterback Stetson Bennett threw for a touchdown and ran for another. Channing Tindall had three sacks.
It was another tough game for Georgia and another big win. The Bulldogs are, in some ways, making it look easy, yet another example of how good this team has been and is.
With Charleston Southern and Georgia Tech upcoming before the SEC Championship Game, where Georgia will likely face Alabama, the Bulldogs appear to be a lock for the College Football Playoff. This is team that validates those expectations week after week.
