Alabama’s Bryce Young is currently the quarterback to beat.

As the Heisman Trophy race heats up, Alabama’s Bryce Young remains front and center. Most recently, he scored four total touchdowns, including getting into the endzone as a runner for the first times this season, as the Crimson Tide put up 52 points on Tennessee on Saturday night. In the win over the Volunteers, Young also set a new career high with 371 passing yards. He continues to lead the way for college football’s second-best scoring offense. Already, Young is a college football superstar.

Even following in the footsteps of legends likes Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones, all former Heisman finalists and current starters in the NFL, Young is creating his own legacy. He per the SEC Network, just became the first Alabama quartback ever with 350 passing yards and two rushing touchdowns in one game.

Notably, Young, after eight games, ranks third nationally and leads the Power Five with 26 passing touchdowns. He now slots fourth overall with a total passer rating of 177.1. Young is completing 70% of his passes, good for top ten in the country. Already one of college football’s most proficient players for the Crimson Tide, Young’s total production is also rising; he leads the P5 with 1,329 passing yards this month. As Young enters the stretch run of the season, he does so with as much momentum of any player in the game.

Over his last five games alone, Young has 1,724 passing yards and 17 touchdowns. Alabama has scored 101 points the past two weeks.

Heisman Trophy discussions are heating up as a number of players are starring. Matt Corral, Kenny Pickett, C.J. Stroud and Caleb Williams are among the other top names. Each of those standouts had impressive showings in week eight. That said, Young is currently the quarterback to beat. His performances have consistently come with history; they may ultimately come with a Heisman. Young is the current national standard.

No Alabama quarterback has ever won college football’s most prestigous individual honor. Young is putting himself in position to do just that.
