Tyrion Davis-Price isn’t just making plays, he is making history.

Florida entered Saturday ranked third nationally with 273.67 rushing yards per game. LSU slotted 127th at 83.33. With that backdrop, Tyrion Davis-Price promptly ran 36 times for a school-record 287 yards and three touchdowns. It was a statement performance from the Tigers, with Davis-Price as the overwhelming all-time catalyst.

LSU, with countless injuries, mounting pressure and on a two-game losing streak, needed someone to step up on a Homecoming Saturday in Baton Rouge. Davis-Price hit the ground running, immediately striding into an all-out sprint. He averaged eight yards per carry, had touchdown runs of 18, 40 and 25 yards and and was the key playmaker in a showdown that was the highest-scoring game in the history of the series. Early in the fourth quarter, David-Price gave the Tigers a seven-point lead with his final score of the afternoon.

As LSU has struggled for momentum offensively and overall, Davis-Price has has helped the team drive forward. He, with 147 yards and two touchdowns at Kentucky last weekend, now has 434 rushing yards and five scores over his last two games alone. Davis-Price is suddenly one of the hottest players in all of college football and is leading the Tigers through a considerable offensive transformation mid-season.

Davis-Price isn’t just making plays, he is making history.

Look for Davis-Price to remain in the national spotlight. Now with as much momentum as any running back, and maybe even any player. in the country, he will pace LSU in upcoming consecutive matchups against nationally-ranked Ole Miss and Alabama, both on the road, and Arkansas. Add in Texas A&M in the finale and Davis-Price and the Tigers will play ranked opponents in four of the their final five regular season games. College football will be watching; it’s a showcase Davis-Price has earned.
