Which team from the state of Mississippi is most likely to continue its current run of success all the way to the College Football Playoff?

Every week, in this column, I will be predicting the bowl location and opponent for each program in the SEC, ACC and Sun Belt Conference. At the halfway mark of the 2014 college football season, we have plenty of big games and stats to reflect back on, and plenty of big games and plays ahead of us. Using what we know now, here are my week seven bowl game projections:

THE ELITE BOWLS:

Rose Bowl (College Football Playoff Semifinal): 2 Ole Miss Vs. 3 Oklahoma

Sugar Bowl (College Football Playoff Semifinal): 1 Florida State Vs. 4 Michigan State

Orange Bowl: Alabama Vs. Clemson

Fiesta Bowl: Oregon Vs. Notre Dame

Peach Bowl: Auburn Vs. Baylor

Cotton Bowl: Mississippi State Vs. TCU

THE REMAINING SEC BOWLS:

There was change at the top of the SEC bowl hierarchy this past weekend, especially involving Southeastern Conference teams from the Magnolia State, as Mississippi State beat undefeated Auburn and Ole Miss pummeled Texas A&M 3 moving the Bulldogs and Rebels to the top of the SEC postseason totem pole. However, for the first week this season, there are no changes in my bowl location projections for the rest of the conference, as seen below.

Capital One Bowl: Georgia Vs. Ohio State

Outback Bowl: Texas A&M Vs. Nebraska

Belk Bowl: South Carolina Vs. Duke

Taxslayer Bowl: Florida Vs. Iowa

Texas Bowl: LSU Vs. Kansas State

Music City Bowl: Missouri Vs. Louisville

Liberty Bowl: Kentucky Vs. West Virginia

THE ACC BOWL PICTURE:

With Florida State notching another victory, little changed at the top of the ACC postseason outlook. However, the rest of the bowl picture was shaken up with a big weekend of games: Miami blew out Cincinnati, Boston College earned a big win over N.C. State, Notre Dame outlasted North Carolina, and Clemson edged Louisville with big plays in the 4th quarter. All of this led to these updated Atlantic Coast Conference bowl projections:

Russell Athletic Bowl: Virginia Tech Vs. Oklahoma State

Belk Bowl: Duke Vs. South Carolina

Music City Bowl: Louisville Vs. Missouri

Hyundai Sun Bowl: Boston College Vs. Arizona State

New Era Pinstripe Bowl: Georgia Tech Vs. Rutgers

Military Bowl: Virginia Vs. Temple

Duck Commander Independence Bowl: Miami Vs. Oregon State

Detroit Bowl: NC State Vs. Maryland

THE SUN BELT BOWL PICTURE

It was a weekend of blowouts in the Sun Belt Conference. Kentucky blasted La.-Monroe, Arkansas State routed Georgia State on the road, and Georgia Southern beat Idaho by more than three touchdowns.

New Orleans Bowl: Arkansas State Vs. Fresno State

Camellia Bowl: Louisiana Vs. Akron

GoDaddy Bowl: Louisiana-Monroe Vs. Bowling Green

Expect plenty of drama around playoff and bowl selection time in this first year under a new system. Should be fun to see unfold. Check back each week to see where teams rise in fall in the bowl pecking order.
