Dominique Allen has been suspended for the season opener at Mercer on September 1st due to a violation of team rules.
CHARLESTON, SC —0Dominique Allen, who led The Citadel to a share of a SoCon title as the teams starting quarterback in 2015, has been suspended for the season opener at Mercer on September 1st due to a violation of team rules according to a statement released by Bulldogs head coach Brent Thompson on Wednesday.
We have high expectations for all members of our team and there are consequences when those expectations are not met.” Thompson said. “I am disappointed in Dominiquexe2x80x99s choices and the impact they are having on our team, but he has taken responsibility for his actions and we will move forward.”
Allen will also be out of action for approximately four weeks after suffering a finger injury on his throwing hard this week in, what Thompson said, is an unrelated incident.
After earning the starting quarterback spot in camp last year, Allen would throw for 871 yards with 4 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He also led the team in rushing for 953 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns.
A Bulldogs official says redshirt freshman Jordan Black will begin the season atop the depth chart at QB for the team which begins fall practice on Thursday.
