nQuarterback Dylan Fromm, a true freshman at Mercer, has the name and numbers to make him a high-profile recruit.
nBefore he officially begins his college football career, the family’s third current gridiron star, joining older brother Jake at Georgia and Tyler at Auburn, already has a place in history. His senior year at Warner Robins was, unquestionably, one for the record books. Fromm’s 4,373 passing yards, per GHSFHA.org, stand as one of the top four single-season efforts in Georgia high school football all-time, a total higher than the likes of fellow Peach State greats Trevor Lawrence, Deshaun Watson and Jake.
nThrow in 46 touchdown passes and 12 wins and Dylan’s 2018 was one of the greatest showcases the state has ever seen.
nThough Mercer will open this upcoming season on August 31st at Southern Conference foe Western Carolina, preparations, for the Bears, have long been underway. Mercer, earlier in the year, completed spring practice, a primer Fromm took part it. There was plenty of hype around the winner of the 2018 Mr. Georgia Award, presented by the Touchdown Club of Atlanta, a spotlight Fromm has clearly been comfortable in for quite some time. The process, for a dynamic student-athlete, is already well underway.
n”Dylan is on our campus right now, he is an early enrollee,” Bobby Lamb, head coach of the Bears, stated. “Went through spring practice, did a really good job obviously learning the in’s and out’s of college football and our offense.”
nExpectations are high all of the way around for Fromm, who graduated from high school with a 4.0 GPA. Going well beyond the box score, his initial Mercer debut is a sign of Fromm’s unlimited potential.xc2xa0
n”He ended up making over a 3.8 GPA, which we knew he would,” Lamb added.
nFromm, as a prospect, is the complete package. Even beyond his legendary individual production, there is more to reflect on and, correspondingly, look forward to. A winner, Fromm went 27-3 in two years as a starter in high school, leading Warner Robins to consecutive state championship game appearances. Academically, he finished in the top five in his class and is already taking steps towards his future profession. The pedigree, for good measure, is proud and proven.xc2xa0xc2xa0
nThe plan for Fromm is to change games; then, more importantly, change lives.xc2xa0
n”Dylan is doing an internship with a doctor there in Warner Robins. That’s what he came to Mercer to be. He wants to be a doctor one day,” Lamb shared. “What a great story, with him coming to Mercer to play quarterback and, certainly academically, be a doctor one day.”xc2xa0xc2xa0xc2xa0
nAs Lamb builds a brand with the Bears, scholastic success, in addition to athletic achievement, continues to be a leading priority. Lamb is in pursuit of dynamic players and people. Fromm fits the profile across the board.
n”We just got our grades in, our team GPA is a 3.0, which is tremendous. We had over 60 guys have a 3.0 or better, so obviously that is a big selling point for us as well.”
nFromm’s resume is one that stands out. Remarkably, he’s just getting started.
