Ranking the best 100 players in the Sun Belt Conference based only on their play throughout the 2017-18 season

For the past two years, I’ve ranked the top 100 players from each of Southern Pigskin’s three FBS conferences — the ACC, SEC, and Sun Belt — prior to the season. However, now, for the first time, I’ve decided to do them after the season, as well.

Unlike the preseason version, which I described as the order you would see if all the players were sorted by a ‘Madden’ rating, neither overall talent nor past production carries any weight. The only thing that impacted the ranking was how well each player performed during this past season. As such, whereas the preseason rankings used to be partly based on past performance, going forward they will be nearly entirely a projection.

One new wrinkle that had to be addressed with this, that wasn’t a problem with the preseason ones, was injuries or just missed time in general. These were a player by player call with no two situations being identical.

In any case, here are the 100 bestSun Beltplayers from the 2017-18 campaign, based solely on their performance over that stretch: (the list will be updated 20 at a time over the course of this week)
