The past two weekends have produced significant recruitment noise with current commits and maybe future commits. The University of Alabama hosted a Nike Football Training Camp on its’ campus Saturday May 24th. Then over the Memorial Day weekend Alabama received a visit from a huge recruit and news of an announcement from another recruit.

The Nike Football Training Camp was held on a nice Saturday afternoon on the campus of Alabama. Three hundred recruits from all over the southeast flocked to the football stadium, where well over 90,000 of the Alabama faithful pack in to watch the Tide. Two prospects stood out among the three hundred and it’s no wonder that they are future bearers of Crimson and White.  Under Armour All American Safety Hasean Clinton- Dix and ESPNU150 Watch List member D.J. Pettway, were the two recruits who stood out among the rest.

Clinton-Dix is a monster at 6’2” 220. He excels in coverage schemes, has great football instincts and shows great skill and speed closing on the ball. He’s a big hitter and has the frame to even grow into a linebacker at the next level. He is coming off a killer junior season that saw him accumulate 93 tackles, including 13 for a loss, break up 9 passes and grab 3 interceptions. Clinton- Dix could very well play early and often once he steps foot on the Alabama campus.

Pettway is an impressive 6’ 2.5” 255 pound DE/DT. He originally started out in high school as a QB, but moved to DE and has dominated ever since. He has the size, frame and motor to play anywhere on the defensive line. He grabbed the NFTC Defensive Lineman MVP Honor, because he did not lose a 1-on-1 battle. His junior season stats show his ability. He produced 85 tackles and 16 sacks and is looking to have an even bigger senior campaign. He will definitely fit well in the Nick Saban 3-4 scheme.

The following weekend, which was Memorial Day weekend, a huge recruit paid Saban a visit. Rodney Coe, a 6’3” 250 pound athlete, toured several schools in the southeast making a final stop in Tuscaloosa. Coe has had Alabama in his sights ever since receiving an offer back in mid March. Coe doubles as a running back and linebacker at Edwardsville High School in Illinois. As a running back he racked up 904 yards and 14 TD’s and as a linebacker he acquired 68 tackles, 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. Coe said he enjoyed his visit to T-town. Posting a 4.5 40 and benching well over 300 pounds, this kid is the making of something special and it would be great to have an athlete like him in the Alabama program.

Ohio QB and teammate Trey DePriest has announced a June 4th date to make his decision. No word as of yet on his decision but the likelihood of his decision being the Tide is very slim. It doesn’t seem Tide fans should worry about DePriest’s status. The two buddies have said they would want to play together at the next level, but realize that they may have part ways. Tide fans are still crossing their fingers to grab both recruits.
