We reported earlier today that fans should look out for the Clemson Tigers in the recruitment of the nation’s No. 1 prospect, Robert Nkemdiche. (Tigers Making a Push for Nkemdiche: /Recruiting/view/tigers-making-a-push-for-nkemdiche)
As it turns out, less than 12 hours later, Nkemdiche gave his verbal commitment to Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers.
This is huge news for the Tigers, whose defense gave up 70 points in a disappointing Orange Bowl loss to West Virginia last season, ultimately leading to the departure of defensive coordinator Kevin Steele.
Nkemdiche, who is now the third Grayson High School prospect in the class of 2013 to commit to the Tigers, is projected to play defensive end in new defensive coordinator Brent Venables’ scheme.
The Tigers now have eight verbal commitment in the class of 2013.
